Why use

Handles taper schedules that a simple single daily dose taper cannot, where each dose time moves independently.

When to use

Use when a prescriber has specified a schedule where morning, midday, evening, or night doses change at different rates.

How to use

  1. Enter the tablet strengths available, in mg, separated by commas.
  2. For the first row, enter a dose for each time of day it is taken, leave unused times blank.
  3. Enter the number of days for that row.
  4. Click Add Taper to insert another row for the next step, doses can go up or down independently at each time.
  5. Click Calculate to generate the schedule.
  6. Click Copy to copy the full schedule.

Pitfalls and drawbacks

Each row is used exactly as entered, the schedule does not automatically calculate steps in between rows. Enter the tablet strengths actually stocked or dispensed locally before relying on the tablet count breakdown. Always confirm the schedule against the prescriber's instructions before giving to a patient.

Advice

Leave a dose time blank or at zero for any row where a dose is not given at that time. Add one row per step in the order they should be used.
